The Hereworth Foundation - securing the long term future of Hereworth School

The Hereworth Foundation was established in 1962 . The Foundation was originally established by a group of Old Boys as the Hereworth Income Endowment Trust and its primary aim is to provide a long term financial base to ensure that Hereworth remains an Independent School and continues to provide an excellent education for our current and future students

The Foundation has been very fortunate in the past,  strongly supported by a  philanthropic community- particularly  Old Boys and their families, staff and other generous supporters of the School.  These gifts have been used to build up an investment fund which provides an annual income to the School over and above what is provided by school fees and government grants. In order to continue all the necessary improvements that will keep Hereworth as one of the top independent prep schools in New Zealand we wish to increase the role of the Foundation and make it the primary fundraising vehicle of the School.
The Foundation investment portfolio is managed by an Investment committee which receives professional investment advice regularly.

Thank you to all those who have supported the school through donations, sponsorships, time, skills, expertise and gifts in kind.  Due to this continued generosity and  support we are able to enjoy our school as it is today.

The Foundation Development Office

The Development Office was established at Hereworth in 2011 to facilitate relationship building with the school community and to initiate a formal giving program for the Hereworth Foundation.  This is a new initiative for the school and the aim of the Development Office is to support the strategic vision of the school whilst promoting its values and mission.  The Development Office relies on the strong relationships within the various school groups, including the Hereworth Old Boys Association, Parents Association and other parent groups that tirelessly support the school. It aims to build strong relationships within the wider school community through friendraising, events, fundraising, communications and marketing of the school and the school groups.

The Development Office has two main objectives - to friendraise and to fundraise.  Friendraising is underway and this involves communicating with parents, students, staff, Old Boys, past parents, grandparents and the wider school community.   Fundraising has always been a part of Hereworth but a formal philanthropy programme is being established so everyone is given the opportunity to support different projects around the school.   The Foundation needs the support of the whole Hereworth community to ensure we can continue with future capital projects and improve our school's facilities.
