It might seem a little strange to some. Your child attends school and whoosh! - on the 2nd week of Term One they're whisked off to camp!
Well, there's definitely method in the madness. Our EOTC (Education Outside The Classroom) schedule is always early on in the school calendar, which gives our students the opportunity to bond, make new friends and challenge themselves in the great outdoors.
Sure, your son or daughter may be in unfamiliar territory, away from the creature comforts they are used to, but they'll be surrounded by a caring, diligent group of teachers and parents from the moment they leave the school to the final drive home. And from the flying foxes to the highwires, to the mud runs and more, they'll come back with endless stories about what they saw, did and met while on camp at Hereworth.
It's about creating children who are resilient. Who may start off afraid, but push through those fears and reap the rewards and the friendships gained over a night or two in the outdoors.
And seeing their faces as they return to Hereworth, disembark the bus and meet their parents again after it's all over is just a golden moment. They've done a lot of growing up and making friends in a few short days, and these EOTC experiences will help set them up for all the growing that's still to come.
