Performing Arts Philosophy

Lights... Camera... Action

From music to drama, speech to Kapa Haka, your child will be immersed in the challenging, incredibly satisfying world of the performing arts from the moment they step foot on school grounds.

With our world-class Performing Arts Centre, complete with newly installed lighting and sound, your child will discover their true potential. All of our students are immersed in Music, Dance and Drama classes as part of our curriculum from years 1 to 8 as they learn to express themselves, discover their sense of place in the world and expand their horizons.

And with every single Year 7 and Year 8 student being part of our production, they’ll experience what it’s like to get a standing ovation, from centre stage.

Musical Productions

Hereworth has established a well-deserved reputation for top-quality musical theatre shows.

Our biennial Senior School Production provides a wonderful opportunity for our Year 7 and Year 8 students to develop theatrical skills both on and off stage and embrace new challenges in the Performing Arts.

Our 2023 production - Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoast - showcased some incredible performances from all involved. Stars in the making? No doubt.

Please Note - enrolments for Speech & Drama in 2024 are now closed. If you fill out the form below your name will be entered onto a waiting list and the tutor will be in touch if there are any available spaces for your child.

All Hereworth students are encouraged to sign up for tuition in Speech and Drama. Hereworth School offers the Trinity College of London Syllabus in Communication Skills, Musical Theatre, Speech and Drama, Acting and Performance Arts.

Students work in small groups with Mrs Sandbrook -  a qualified Trinity College Speech and Drama teacher/examiner - to develop confidence in public speaking, performance, team building and effective communication skills.

Classes take place during the school day with students coming out of class for one session per week. Our students often work toward external Trinity College of London Speech and Drama examinations.

Music Tuition for 2024

Please Note - enrolments for our music tutors in 2024 are now closed for Term One. You are still welcome to fill out a form for your chosen tutor, who will let you know if there is space available in Term Two.

At Hereworth we offer tuition in a range of instruments to all our students.

The majority of lessons are 30 minutes long and take place during the school day, making it a very convenient way of fitting music tuition into the student’s week. All levels of ability are catered for, with many students sitting examinations through ABRSM and Trinity Music examination boards.

We currently offer tuition in Clarinet, Saxophone, Violin, Viola, Classical Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Classical Piano, Contemporary Piano, Voice, Bagpipes, Cello and Flute.

We are happy to assist in arranging tuition on instruments not currently offered. Individual tuition fees vary.
