In 2027, Hereworth School will turn 100 years old, and we aim to celebrate our century with a series of exciting events for all friends, families and students of the school.
From cultural performances to classic sporting clashes, to black-tie events and more, each event across this 12 month period will give you a reason to once again step through the school gates, see some familiar faces and remember your time at Hereworth.

JANUARY 2027
/ OUR HERITAGE WALKS
Stroll through time with us, as we unveil the ‘Hereworth Heritage Walk’. Dotted across the school will be boards detailing the significant moments, people and monuments that helped shape your school.

/ FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
Centenary ties, special pins for students, a cake cutting and more. From Day 1 in Term One, every student, teacher, parent and staff member will understand just how important this entire year will be.

/ FOUNDERS' DAY
It’s time for the generations to meet, mix and share stories with our Founders’ Day. This event has been building for years, and our 2027 version will give students past & present a wonderful reason to be back on school grounds.

/ THE WALK OF FAITH
Hereworth’s connection to St Luke’s Church is something we cherish, so join our entire school for ‘The Walk Of Faith’ into the village for a special chapel service and morning tea afterwards.

/ FAMILY FUN DAY - PICNIC & SPORTS
Sport has been one of the cornerstones of Hereworth for a century, so join us for a full carnival celebration with food stall, sporting events, picnics and performances.

/ GRANDPARENTS MORNING
Always one of the best attended days of the year, our 2027 Grandparents Day will once again have our supportive grandparents joining their grandchildren for a special morning at the school.

/ ANZAC SERVICE & PARADE
The military history of Hereworth is well documented, and we seek to honour those soldiers and servicemen/women at the Havelock North ANZAC Service in the village.

/ MOTHER'S DAY HIGH TEA
Join us on the lawn for an afternoon dedicated to our Hereworth mothers and caregivers.

/ CLUB MIDWINTER CHRISTMAS
The brand new ‘1927 Club’, binding together generations of former students, will launch shortly. And what better way to celebrate this new group of Hereworth Alumni members than a full midwinter Christmas Dinner, held on school grounds?

/ ART EXHIBITION AT HEREWORTH
After the massive success of this inaugural event in 2025, we’re excited to be running it again in 2027. It’ll be bigger, better, and just as entertaining, as the Sports Centre transforms into an event that celebrates our school’s contribution to the arts.
3-5 SEPTEMBER 2027
/ THE CENTENARY WEEKEND
3 days. Plenty of reasons to visit. This is THE main event of the year, and a huge celebration of all things Hereworth. Details are still tightly under wraps, but this is one weekend you don’t want to miss out on.

Hereworth is known for its exceptional productions, and this week we will have an incredible stage show for you all… with more than a few surprises thrown in. So if you’ve been onstage at Hereworth, get ready for your curtain call.

It’s been around for 100 years, and we want boarding to be part of our school for 100 more. Join us as we take a deep look into how boarding shaped our school, and how the plans for the future are taking shape.

In the build up to our Centenary year, we will continue to host our Alumni & Supporters’ Social Gatherings across the country in 2026. Events in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch have been incredibly well attended, so if you’re an Alumni member in these areas, keep an eye on your inbox.
