The Dr Reeve Cricket Match

First instigated by Dr Reeve in 1958,  this match is now a highlight in the school calendar, giving our 2nd XI their own special day.

A day for the 2nd XI to shine

This match, which now takes the form of a memorial game out of respect to the late Dr Tony Reeve, former school doctor and the man after whom Reeve House is named, offers the students of the 2nd XI a wonderful opportunity to experience cricket at its finest.

Rivalries remain intact though, as our 2nd XI play their best cricket against a squad composed of family members and Old Boys. Totals are meticulously kept, and to score a century or take a 'five-for' during this event is no small feat.

In recent times, we have seen the unveiling of the plaque in memory of Mrs Cherry Dingemans (daughter of Dr Reeve), who together with her husband Patrick have kept this fixture alive.

One look forward to

Having a day dedicated to the 2nd XI is exactly the thinking behind the Dr Reeve cricket match. While all students aspire to be in the 1st XI, there are some fantastic cricketers who make up our 2nd squad. These students relish the opportunity to show off their skills in front of a receptive audience comprised of family and staff members.
