Two much-loved matches. More than 80 years of tradition. Plenty of bragging rights.
We finish the year with two very special Hereworth cricket fixtures, bringing generations of players together for a day of competition, camaraderie and plenty of cricketing pride.
The Wahi Pai match dates back to 1943, when petrol rationing during World War II made it impossible for Hereworth teams to travel to play other schools. Stanley Nowell-Usticke came up with the idea of fathers playing the boys instead, a tradition that has continued for more than 80 years.
Today, Old Boys and family members take on the current 1st XI, while the Dr Reeve memorial match gives our 2nd XI their own chance to take centre stage against a team of Old Boys and family members. Both matches are fiercely contested, with centuries, five-wickets and scoreboard bragging rights all up for grabs.
Come along and celebrate a great Hereworth tradition — on and off the field.
